Vintage child mannequins come along so rarely and are highly sought after. This lovely mannequin is made by the premier mannequin makers of France - Stockman - and is truly in superb condition. I think this mannequin has either been treasured by her past owners, or been stored or protected in some way, as I can see no damage to the fabric at all. The fabric is original to the mannequin, as the original Stockman markings can still be seen to the lower front of the torso - faded, but still there. This mannequin would date to around the start of the 1900s.
The wooden parts of the mannequin are also in excellent condition, the carving to the finial showing this mannequin to have been from a higher quality range in her day. The height can be altered by way of the original turnkey, embossed 'Stockman' on one side and 'Paris' on the other.
