Wasp waist mannequins come so many different styles. Each one is a clear window to the fashions of the time and shows the idealised shape of women at that time in history. Some wasp waist mannequins are shaped for a bustle - tiny waist, with a flat stomach and large behind! This mannequin is shaped more for a crinolline frame - a small waist, flaring out over both the tummy and behind.
A lot of my wasp waist mannequins have been bought by corset makers or by people who make costumes for historical societies. It's always wonderful to know when these mannequins are destined to be used again for their original purpose of dressmaking.
